Cookies Anyone?

Think: making cookies with a 4 year old.

It's messy
takes three times as long
GERMS!
requires serious patience
AND involves LOTS of clean-up.

So why even do it?

Isn't it really about building relationship?
Making a memory
And sharing an experience?
Helping a little one feel successful???
Lovingly guiding em through a process...

Prayer is a lot like making cookies with a little one.
He doesn't need my help to do His job.
He is in absolute control.
He already has a plan.
But by praying...
HE LETS ME BE A PART OF HIS PROCESS.

Prayer gives me a glimpse of His perspective, aligns my heart with His, and I get to know Him better along the way.

I heard this at Thursday morning Bible study and LOVED it!
It's given me a whole new perspective on why I want to include my kids in all kinds of different tasks...whether it's longer or messier...it's TOTALLY worth it!
It also helps me approach prayer from an entirely different vantage point!

Crazy Love

I started reading this book on Mother's Day as I lounged in bed after being served a warm, delicious scone and coffee (frothed and everything!)...talk about the best gift EVER! :)I have been blessed with an incredible family, but that's another post entirely!

Maybe you saw the you-tube about the balance beam below. This Francis Chan really struck me, so I picked up his book, Crazy Love.
It is making me really think about three things so far:
1. worry
2. stress
3. being a "lukewarm" Christian

Hhmmm...I am a worrier and stresser, but am I lukewarm, too?
Definitely thinking and praying over these items and I can only imagine what the next 5 chapters will reveal.

The Patriarchs

Started this study and am loving it to bits!! Beth Moore is bringing the book of Genesis to life! I had no idea that I could even begin to relate to Abraham, but I am!! :)

Here are a few things that have stood out so far
Week 1: Leave Your Country:

*God calls us to leave our familiar spiritual countryside- our usual routines, our ruts, our comfort zone, and every hint of mediocrity- and "go" to a place He will show us.
*God's side is the only safe place to be
*God wants to teach us to seek His will because what He gives us will always prove better.
*We won't embrace with both hands what God has for us if we hold our old lives in a death grip.
